ZATCA Cargo Terminals (Saudi Customs)
Project Overview
The primary objective for this project with the ZATCA (Saudi Customs) was to “empower” the authority with “Resilience by Design”. This meant engineering a solution that could powerfully interdict sophisticated smuggling threats while simultaneously streamlining and accelerating the flow of legitimate trade—a critical component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 logistics and trade hub ambitions.
- Challenges
Customs authorities in the Kingdom faced a dual challenge: a significant rise in cargo volumes and increasingly sophisticated smuggling techniques. They needed high-throughput, high-accuracy scanning with minimal disruption to vital trade flows. The existing, fragmented systems created “operational gaps” , relied on “human error” -prone manual checks, and lacked the “digital intelligence” to correlate data from different sources.
- ABOUT THE PROJECT
As a “turnkey security systems integrator” with over 15 years of “field-proven expertise” serving “Customs & Border Control Authorities” , Arbana was selected as the “single, accountable partner” for this large-scale deployment. Our team supplied, integrated, and provided full “Training & Lifecycle Management” for more than eleven large-scale cargo scanning gantries for ZATCA (Saudi Customs). This project showcases our “End-to-End Ownership” model, integrating best-in-class hardware from our “Global Tech Partnerships” into a single, orchestrated security platform.
- OUR APPROACH
Arbana implemented a fully “orchestrated” solution built on our “Integrated Tech Stack” and “INNOVATION & AI EDGE”.
- Advanced Screening: We deployed high-energy X-ray gantry systems from our “Screening & Detection Systems” portfolio. This allowed officers to scan entire trucks and containers without unpacking. We then “orchestrated” this hardware with integrated explosives/narcotics trace detection (ETD) and “AI-Powered Analytics” (“smart analytics”) to automatically identify anomalies and flag suspicious cargo.
- Data & C2 Integration: We connected every gantry to a centralized “Command & Control (C2)” platform. This “digital intelligence” layer fed data to “Smart Dashboards” , allowing customs officers to instantly correlate the X-ray scan with the cargo manifest and the vehicle’s risk profile in real-time, all on a single screen.
- Resilience & Compliance: Built with “Accountability First” , the entire solution was designed to meet strict “LICENSING & COMPLIANCE” mandates. This included adherence to all regional regulations and international standards like ISO 9001/27001 and TSA, ensuring “operational continuity” and full regulatory approval.
- Impact
The “orchestrated” solution successfully solved the dual challenge. The “AI-Powered Analytics” and integrated ETD “increased detection rates” and “reduced false positives”. Simultaneously, the “Data Integration” into the C2 platform “streamlined screening processes” , “reduced human error” , and dramatically “improved throughput” at border crossings. By “coupling hardware with data intelligence” , Arbana provided ZATCA with a future-proof solution that protects the Kingdom’s borders while accelerating commerce.
