Specialized Detection Solutions
Project Overview
GOALS: Enhance security for government agencies through targeted detection technologies.
This project focused on high-risk, high-sensitivity facilities, securing the people and checkpoints within critical infrastructure. The goal was to layer multiple targeted detection technologies in a way that enhances security without overwhelming personnel. This solution is exemplified by projects like the “NEOM BORDER CHECKPOINTS” and serves “High-Risk Commercial Enterprises” and government facilities
- Challenges
High-risk facilities needed multiple layers of screening to counter diverse threats. However, integrating disparate devices without overwhelming staff or sacrificing throughput was difficult.
This is a classic human factors challenge. The “disparate devices” from different vendors create a confused and stressful environment for security staff. An operator forced to monitor three different screens while physically searching a person is “overwhelmed” and prone to “human error”. This “operational gap” created by a lack of integration is the security vulnerability.
- ABOUT THE PROJECT
Arbana managed the deployment and maintenance of walk-through metal detectors, narcotics detectors, and explosives detection systems for various government departments.
This project showcases Arbana’s “Screening & Detection Systems” capability at the “human scale.” The “deployment and maintenance” model reinforces the “Training & Lifecycle Management” and “End-to-End Ownership” approach, ensuring these critical checkpoint systems function perfectly, 24/7.
- OUR APPROACH
Arbana’s approach focused on sensor integration, human-centric design, and rigorous training to solve the human factors challenge.
- Integrated Sensors: Arbana combined metal detection with trace detection and smart analytics, reducing human error and eliminating operational gaps. This is the “Integrated Tech Stack” at the checkpoint level. An operator is presented with one simple, unified alert. The system’s “smart analytics” automatically fuse the data from the walk-through metal detector (Layer 1), the baggage X-ray (Layer 2), and the explosives trace detector (Layer 3) to provide a single “Clear / Not Clear” recommendation. This directly “reduce[s] human error” by simplifying the decision.
- User-Friendly Tech: Arbana’s solutions prioritized usability to maintain employee loyalty and performance. This is a core differentiator, drawn directly from the “Arab-Nation-First Mindset” value: “We champion human-friendly tech that boosts employee loyalty and performance”. In high-stress, high-turnover security roles, “User-Friendly Tech” reduces training time, improves operator morale, and makes security staff more effective and vigilant.
Training & Compliance: Arbana trained operators and ensured systems met national and international standards. This approach combines the “Training & Lifecycle Management” capability with “Regional Sensitivity”. Operators are trained not just on individual devices, but on the integrated system, potentially using Arbana’s “Simulation & Training Tools”. All systems are ensured to meet strict “LICENSING & COMPLIANCE” standards, including ECAC, TSA, ISO, and local GACA/NCA mandates.
- Impact
Government sites benefited from streamlined screening processes, higher detection rates, and reduced staffing burdens. The combination of tech and training fostered safer work environments and heightened threat deterrence.
The impact is a virtuous cycle. “Integrated Sensors” and “User-Friendly Tech” lead to “streamlined screening” and “reduced staffing burdens.” This, in turn, boosts staff morale and performance, which leads to “higher detection rates.” The holistic combination of integrated technology and human-centric training creates a “safer work environment” for staff and a powerful, visible deterrent to threats. This project proves that Arbana’s “End-to-End Ownership” model successfully addresses the complex interplay of technology, human factors, and process.
