International Airport Terminals (Sana'a)
Project Overview
GOALS: Modernise airport screening and surveillance to meet international aviation standards.
The primary objective was to comprehensively modernize the airport’s security infrastructure to meet the strict, evolving mandates of international aviation authorities. This required enhancing threat detection capabilities while simultaneously optimizing passenger flow and reducing wait times. The ultimate goal was to achieve “Resilience by Design” , ensuring the airport’s “operational continuity” and safety.
- Challenges
International airports operate under immense pressure. They must counter sophisticated, evolving threats and adhere to strict security mandates from bodies like GACA and ECAC without compromising passenger throughput. The airport’s legacy systems were fragmented, creating “operational gaps” and preventing a fast, coordinated response to security incidents. A fully integrated “digital intelligence” platform was needed
- ABOUT THE PROJECT
Arbana was selected as the “single, accountable partner” to provide and support modern security screening and surveillance systems for Sana’a International Airport. As a turnkey systems integrator with 15+ years of “field-proven expertise” in the “Airports & Aviation Authorities” sector , our team was responsible for the end-to-end orchestration of all systems to ensure full compliance with global aviation regulations.
- OUR APPROACH
Arbana implemented a “Tailored Protection” strategy, unifying three core capabilities into one “Integrated Tech Stack”.
- Orchestrated Screening & Detection: We deployed a complete checkpoint solution from our “Screening & Detection Systems” portfolio. This included state-of-the-art X-ray and CT baggage scanners, explosives trace detectors (ETD), and “Access Control Systems” like “smart gates” to automate and secure passenger flow.
- Intelligent Surveillance & Monitoring: We installed a comprehensive “Surveillance & Monitoring” network, featuring “Smart CCTV” with “AI-Powered Analytics” for real-time threat detection. This was enhanced with long-range thermal cameras to provide 24/7, all-weather situational awareness across the entire airport perimeter.
- Unified Command & Control (C2): All systems were converged into a “Command & Control Center (C2)” platform. This PSIM solution provided “Smart Dashboards” and automated “incident response workflows” , giving security teams a single operational view and enabling faster, more effective coordination
- Impact
The new orchestrated security ecosystem successfully met all project goals. The airport achieved full compliance with international aviation authority requirements , significantly improved its “detection accuracy” , and measurably “reduced wait times” for passengers. This project set a new benchmark for integrated, intelligent security at regional airports.
